UNDERBELLY, inspired by Givens' latest album, Dayclear/First Dark,
collaborate to create FIRST DARK DRAMA: a multisensory work that
journeys deep into the subconscious of urban dwelling & personal
memory; enmeshing Afro-post mod movement with stark visuals &
dissonant compositions.
Through intimate and exposed episodic pathways, FIRST DARK DRAMA’s
world orbits around the ever-fluid relationship between sensory recall,
time and history. It is a cosmic space embodied in refractions of
memories, distilled from the legacies of race & culture; a prism
into how we as Black gay men continue to love & survive in the midst
of loss & longing.
