Taggn with D UNDERBELLY, part of Converge with Jennifer Monson

Part of
CONVERGE - an urban dance migration
Conceived by Jennifer Monson

CONVERGE was conceived by acclaimed experimental choreographer -improviser JENNIFER MONSON who is fascinated with tracking migration & flocking patterns as it relates to navigation & direction.

D UNDERBELLY choreographs along with Jennifer Monson and Sam Kim three distinct pathways that converge at Fort Greene Park in Brooklyn.  The piece  history, memories and energy of the streets of Brooklyn & the brink of incredible & unsettling transformation going on in the neighborhood.

The urban migration (Tagg'n) involves Mameri Blue, Valerie McCleod-Katz, Abby Block, Chelsea Gregory, Theresa Cermanski, Kim Massiah, Erin Kaser, Marvin Webb, Rafael Sanchez & Photographer Geoff Albores as part of 'happenings' as D UNDERBELLY traces a path from Dean and Flatbush to Fort Greene Park.  Solos, groups of twos, threes & more will be present at designated sites working through choreographic motifs, gestural language & visual pictures.

D UNDERBELLY partner, experimental DJ, Producer & Poet Daniel Givens provided soundscapes and environmental designs along the way via boomboxes, car radios, recycled and traditional 'instruments' and, of course, spontaneous ambient street sounds...a videographer will be present to document this pathway and reflect it on the website.

Videographers Robin Vachal, Samual Topiary, and Clare Calahan, and web designer Beth Monoian collaborated on the documentation and graphic portrayal of the performance at Bird Brain Dance.   Featured in the New York Times.
